Appearance
This wood has a medium texture with grain forming subtle rows along the length of the boards similar to Mahogany.  There are several small, stable knots which add character to the flooring.  The color is light reddish brown and has medium to high luster.

Specifications
Pre-finished 4" x 3/4" solid hardwood flooring.
No stains used.

Lengths
An average length of 34" to 36" is common with lengths ranging from 12" to 84".

Color change over time
This wood is not particularly photosensitive however it does darken somewhat over time, creating a more even overall brown with a tinge of red.

Finishing
Prefinished UV cured urethane with aluminum oxide.

This picture shows an installed Amendoim floor.  This floor will darken slightly over time.
Note that there is little variation in color between boards.

 


Color change occurs when the flooring is exposed to light and oxygen.  In this picture you can see the amount of change that can be expected in this species.  It appears most of the yellowish tones disappear to leave an overall pinkish brown floor.  This color change can take from a few weeks to several months.  These samples were placed in direct sunlight for a total of 28 hours with the unchanged portion covered with thick cardboard.  Also note the amount of variation from the lightest to the darkest board, left to right.
