Amberwood / Peroba

Amberwood / Peroba      Pronounced:  as in English
(Aspidosperma polyneuren)

Appearance
Amberwood's grain is iridescent, extremely fine and even. It is a very hard and good wearing wood.

Specifications
Unfinished and prefinished 3 1/4" x 3/4" solid hardwood flooring.
No stains used.

Lengths
The lengths on this flooring can be considered shorter than normal which results from a lot of natural defects being cut out of long boards to provide wood with no worm holes or mineral staining.  An average length of 30" to 34" is common with lengths ranging from 12" to 84".

Color change over time
When freshly sanded and finished this floor will appear very pink with light yellow streaks running like flames through the length of the boards.  With time the pink will change to an orangey yellow to give an overall amber floor.

Finishing
This wood is easy to finish and does not require any special treatment.  Oil-based finishes create a more attractive floor when use on this species rather than water-based finishes.

This picture shows a newly installed prefinished Amberwood floor.  It is still very pink but will lighten to a soft amber over the following few months. -  WTM Exotic Wood Flooring

Here is another example of a newly installed Amberwood floor. -  WTM Exotic Wood Flooring

An Amberwood floor with a decorative border and medallion.  This floor was sanded and finished the day before this photo was taken so the wood still has a strong pink color.   This will change over the next few months to an amber/yellow brown floor.  The interesting grain and iridescence will however remain. -  Decorative Flooring

Here the beautiful grain and character of this wood can be seen.

This floor is only 3 months old in this picture and has already changed significantly since it was installed.  This showroom has no natural light entering the room as there are no windows, showing that even if your home does not have much natural light, the floor will still be able to cure.  -  Endurance Floor Co.
