Appearance
The heartwood is reddish brown becoming deep red or somewhat purplish upon exposure to sunlight.  The grain is fairly uniform to striped.

Color change over time:
No significant color change happens over time.

Finishing:
This wood is easy to finish and does not require any special treatment.  The yellowing effect of oil-based finishes adds life and warmth to this red wood.  To prevent the yellowing effect use a water-bases finish.
